Do you want to play a crucial role in shaping Jet Global products?
I was thinking about the JRDS setup and running all of the PowerShell commands.
Is there a reason that we don’t have a GUI for this?
It seems like it would be much easier for people to configure it if there was a GUI for creating your JRDS, creating your instance, and configuring all of the parameters.
It would also be helpful to ensure that the authentication method and user account provided can actually access the SQL Server if we had a drop down to allow them to select the database once they choose their authentication method and entered the SQL Server name.
It would also be nice if you could then configure the settings that you would eventually be entering into the Data Source Settings and test your connection locally.
This would ensure that all of the settings are configured properly and then if the connection doesn't work remotely we would know that the issue relates to firewalls/endpoints etc. rather than configuration parameters, NAV permissions or IIS permissions.
Most companies don't have Excel loaded on the IIS server so we can't test the connection locally to make sure everything was configured properly.
