Better spacing on Report Wizard

For the three levels of nesting in the Report Wizard Jet uses Rows=4, Rows=7 and Rows=10.  The problem is that this leaves no space between the total of one level and the beginning of the next higher level leaving the odd presentation that the total is one row separated from its constituents and attached to the top of the next grouping.  This has to be corrected every single time using the Report Wizard.

A better presentation would result from either:

  1. Using Rows=5, Rows=9 and Rows=13 or
  2. Deleting the blank row between the total and it’s constituents and inserting that blank row after the total. Then add a top border to the total cell.

I prefer the latter but would be happy with either.  The Report Wizard is often used by beginners who haven’t yet learned nesting.  The current presentation puts them off and would be very simple to fix.

    Hi Michael,

I am happy to report that your idea will be implemented in the upcoming release this fall. In fact, I am in the middle of validating the usability of our Report Wizard redesign, and I would love it if you could join me on a web meeting to provide input into the finished result. If you are interested in meeting, follow this link to go to my page where you can either schedule a time to review the new designs or find my e-mail address for further questions.

    Thanks!
