Thank you for providing that update of your use case. I think the feature we released can address this to a certain extent. Currently, you can only change one report at a time. There is a user story in the development backlog that addresses changing multiple reports. No current ETA for this story, however.

My particular idea came from having to load the reports against a test DB, and then having to change them all to live when the project is live.

Are you wanting the datasource selectable at report run time, or just changeable if you happened to upload with the incorrect datasource?
Workaround for first option is, of course, to use Datasource= and set the datasource as a report option.
As for the second option, with the release of Jet 2019 R2 (build 20.0.19116.1), we introduced the ability to change the datasource and company on a report in Jet Hub. Currently, this function is available from the Report Details screen.
